1. New Manager Onboarding

A single source for tools and resources for onboarding new managers remotely

My Role: L&D Program Owner

Skills Used: Design thinking, vendor management, project management

Modality: Web, instructional video, mobile app

Business Issue: Managers needed just-in-time performance support resources but were only provided with outdated and expensive classroom training.

Solution objectives:

  • Personalize the onboarding experience for enrollees

  • Reimagine the current online resources

  • Redesign the current face-to-face solution to reach remote managers

  • Offer mobile-first performance support tools

Results: Saved ~$400K/yr. over legacy solution. Mobile solution adoption: 96%. Created an automated system for finding and targeting communications sent to newly identified managers each week.

Performance Support: Personalized (Chat Bot) subscription (via text messaging) allowing new managers to have on-demand, mobile access to a menu of content and resources including:

  • Micro-video lessons on effective performance review conversations

  • Job aides

  • Calendar reminders for role-based deliverables

  • Vacation “time out”, so push messages can be paused during time away from the office

  • A fun “AI” personality to deliver content similar to Siri but without the disruptive voice over.
